Eastern Aleutian Tribes manages seven Community Health Centers, staffed by approximately 80 employees in the Eastern Aleutians. Approximately 4,000 people reside in our communities and our providers see an average of 8,839 visits a year.
Our clinical providers are our most valuable asset in working toward our vision and accomplishing our mission. Health care in the Aleutians is provided by Community Health Aides, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners. At smaller sites these providers not only tend to the primary care needs of our patients, but are also on call 24/7 to provide care in emergencies. On some occasions providers have had to give continuous care for days to critical patients when weather prevented medevac flights from being able to transfer the patient to the hospital. Additional care is provided by Southcentral Foundation doctors, dentists, and optometrists who visit some of the communities on a regular basis.
Eastern Aleutian Tribes encourages people considering a career as a Community Health Aide to become active in their local Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and to talk with their local providers about their career in health. If you are interested in taking an EMS class, please contact EAT at (907)277-1440 or (866)328-4911 and ask for our Southern Region EMS Council Board of Director.
