EAT is pleased to announce that we are part of Pick.Click.Give. for 2012. The program was once again a success last year with approximately 9,500 Alaskans giving approximately $925,000 to their favorite organizations. We are excited about the opportunity to participate this year.

By giving through Pick.Click.Give, you join others to become an important force in bettering our communities and our state. For those of you who already support Eastern Aleutian Tribes, we appreciate your gifts and hope you will use this option to make an additional donation.  Eastern Aleutian Tribes provides primary medical, dental, and behavioral health care services in federally qualified health centers in the communities of Adak, Akutan, Cold Bay, False Pass, King Cove, Nelson Lagoon, Sand Point, and Whittier.  EATs service area comprises over 100,000 square miles of some of the most beautiful, remote, and challenging locations in the world.

When you go on-line to sign up for your dividend, you will see an option to “Pick.Click.Give.” Follow the instructions to make a new donation, or an additional gift. At the same time, please take the extra step you will see after you make your donation to provide your contact information to us. We want to acknowledge and recognize your generous support, and this is the only way we will know it’s you making the gift.

You can find more information about the program, including frequently asked questions at www.PickClickGive.org. Or you may call us at 907-277-1440.

"One Day Can Make A Difference!"

The Sand Point Clinic, in conjunction with Eastern Aleutian Borough School District and the City of Sand Point, held a Smoke Out November 17.  Over 60 people attended, and enjoyed presentations by the youth group “Fighting Against Teens Smoking” (FATS); as well as displays, presentations, and games.  Hot dogs and hamburgers were served thanks to the generosity of Alaska Commercial Company.  Prizes were courtesy of Peter Pan Seafoods, Trident Seafoods, Toys Plus and Eastern Aleutian Tribes, Inc.  Thank you to everyone who contributed and participated! You can see pictures of the event here.

Eastern Aleutian Tribes Inc. Colorectal Screening Rates
Outstrip Statewide Numbers!

Eastern Aleutian Tribes Incorporated reported today that their Colorectal Screening rates have increased by 254% over the last five years, and have surpassed the statewide rate.  Under EAT’s Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) grant, EAT has increased from a 2006 screening rate of 19% to 2011’s figure of 67.2%.  This exceeds the statewide level of 58.4%.

Working in conjunction with the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium’s Colorectal Cancer Control Program, EAT has held numerous health fairs throughout the region, emphasizing colon care and featuring “Nolan the Colon”, a giant walkthrough colon designed to demonstrate the differences between healthy and diseased colons.

With the work of our excellent clinical staff, we look forward to meeting and exceeding the Center of Disease Control’s 2014 goal of 80%.

If you would like further information about colorectal screenings, please contact EAT’s Wellness Program Manager Anna Buterbaugh toll free at 1-866-328-4911 or directly at 277-1440, extension 505.
